One Singular Sensation
Presented by the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University
Directed and Edited by Sam Vladimirsky
On May 6, 2020, the art world lost Tom Sokolowski, Zimmerli Art Museum Director and previous director of the Grey Art Gallery, who co-founded the organization Visual AIDS and its annual observance Day With(out) Art. Each year on December 1, coinciding with World AIDS Day, galleries and museums around the world are encouraged to raise consciousness about the AIDS crisis in some form. In honor of World AIDS Day and Day With(out) Art, the Zimmerli presents One Singular Sensation, a documentary short by Sam Vladimirsky (Rutgers Class of 2019), exploring Tom’s life and legacy. The film includes appearances from the Grey’s Lynn Gumpert, Director, and Michèle Wong, Associate Director and Head of Collections and Exhibitions.
