Directed by Sofia Coppola. Starring Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Akiko Takeshita. In English. 102 minutes. The protagonists of Lost in Translation “develop their relationship in the present tense—they literally learn to live in ‘the now’ by making vivid memories to fall back on in the future … as a means of putting meaningful life back into their respective marriages.” They don’t necessarily solve their problems, but are in the end better able to face them.
