Closed Sundays and Mondays. Also closed Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Weekend, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Please Note: The gallery closes at 5 pm the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and reopens with normal gallery hours the following Tuesday.
The gallery and offices are closed for Winter Recess, December 24–January 1, 2019.

The Grey Art Gallery is a Blue Star Museum and offers free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The Grey Art Gallery is located within the NYU Silver Center at 100 Washington Square East. Situated at the meeting point of SoHo and the East and West Villages, the Grey Art Gallery is easily reached by public transportation.
Subway: A, B, C, D, E, F, or M to West 4th Street; N or R local to 8th Street; 6 local to Astor Place; 1 local to Christopher Street.
Bus: M1, M2, M3, M5, and M6 to 8th Street.

All group visits (10 people or more) must be scheduled online at least two weeks in advance. Groups of 10 or more may request tours led by Grey Gallery Guides.
Please note: Group leaders must use the Grey’s online reservation system. Phone and email requests will not be honored. Groups without prior reservations may be denied admission. The Grey does not schedule visits during exhibition reinstallations or certain holiday periods.

Matriculated college classes (with students enrolled for credit toward a college degree) are admitted free of charge. For classes larger than 10 people, reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Up to 25 students per group; 40 students is the maximum number allowed to enter at one time, but admission times may be staggered. Instructors may request a Grey Gallery Guide tour.
K–12 School Groups
Up to 25 students per group; 40 students is the maximum number allowed to enter at one time, but admission times may be staggered. One chaperon per 15 students is required.
Public and private K–12 groups from schools located in New York City are admitted free of charge; other school groups pay a group visit fee of $5.00 per person. For school groups larger than 10 people, reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Teachers may request a free Gallery Guide tour using questioning strategies to spark dialogue around selected works of art in the Grey’s current exhibition.
All Other Groups
10–25 people constitute a group. Special arrangements may be made for larger groups upon request. All other groups are required to pay a group visit fee of $5.00 per person upon arrival at the Grey. This must be remitted in one cash payment, one check, or by credit card. The group’s leader may request a Grey Gallery Guide tour, which is included in the group visit fee.
